La Habra Real Estate

When it comes to Orange County real estate, La Habra is among the most diverse and appealing. Located in the extreme northwest corner of Orange County, next to Las Angeles County, La Habra could not be more conveniently located.

There’s an interesting story behind La Habra real estate. In the early-mid 1800’s, most of what is now “La Habra” was owned by one rancher: Don Mariano Reyes Roldan. His enormous herds of horses and cattle grazed on the hillsides, and for a time it must have seemed it would ever be so. But in the 1860’s, this vast ranch passed hands. Shortly afterward, real estate in La Habra was hit by a devastating combination of drought and floods. Most ranchers were forced out of business, and the local lifestyle and economy changed forever.

By 1925, when La Habra was official incorporated at a town, its population was about 3,000. La Habra real estate had the distinction of being the avocado capital of Southern California, a distinction it held for many years. In fact, the Hass Avocado Mother Tree – from which 95% of all California avocado trees were derived – thrived in La Habra real estate until its eventual and natural demise (from root rot) in 2002.

If you look for history when purchasing real estate, La Habra has another interesting distinction: Richard Nixon’s first law office was located on La Habra Boulevard, just west of the Civic Center. (The building was torn down in the 1990’s to make room for La Habra’s Community Center.)

From its fascinating ranching and agricultural history, through to its connection with a controversial President, La Habra real estate boasts one of the most colorful and varied backgrounds in Orange County. Now, this city of 60,000 is firmly established as one of California’s most important and desirable locations. If you are considering an investment in Orange County real estate, La Habra is a great place to look.
